Hi
You probably won't find a cheap joint in Varadero...unless you manage to find a Casa Particular (Like a B&B, some legal ones and others illegal. Needless to say, legal ones are more expensive but consistent quality) Typically you pay 20 pesos (equal to $US20) for a night, and some places offer breakfast for 3 or so pesos and dinner for a little more. Illegal places will go for cheaper. When I stayed in Havana, I went to a beach town called Guanabo. Not as flashy as Varadero but still nice beaches with a number of casas. Locals prefer this beach over Varadero. Good luck! |

The interior of the hotel definately matched up with the exterior, and it helped that there were no less than 5 bars between our hotel room and the beach! The beach bar was a 24 hour bar, (bless the poor man who manned it at 4am in a weatherproof… Blau Varadero Hotel |

The Cubans showed immidiately their hospitality, we arrived at 1 o'clock at night in our hotel in Varadero, but they prepared a dinner packed especially for us. OK, Cuba does not always the very best food (alltough, the fish there is absolutely great, and in the resorts the food is excellent), but the idea of a warm welcome makes all good… Varadero, Cuba |

Clearly these dancers, their choreographer and the
hotel management thought that that this was appropriate, so that
definitely says something about their own conception of Christmas,
festivities and sexuality. If you are Cuban and reading this, perhaps you can comment on this and let me know how far one should read… A Very Merry Christmas??? |

It is a cave party and there is a bus that will be coming to the front of the hotel to pick people up if we wanted to attend. Lets see I have never been to a cave party before so I was game and so was my buddy so off we went to the front to wait for the bus. 20 minute ride… Watch that sun rise..... |
