Scotland is a country in the northern part of the island of Great Britain. Scotland is about 30,000 square miles in area, which is about the size of the state of South Carolina. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. Scotland can be divided into three main parts, the Highlands in the north, the Lowlands in the center, and the Uplands in the south. The coastline is rocky and irregular, indented with many sea lochs (narrow inlets) and firths (wide inlets). The country is dotted with beautiful lochs. Many islands surround Scotland, including the Shetland and the Orkney Islands to the north and the Hebrides to the west. The Uplands are a region of rolling hills and valleys, with many rivers such as the Tweed and the Clyde.

Don't forget to travel to the English Lake District-Windermere (England's Largest Lake),Coniston(where Donald Campbell died during the World Water Speed record attempt),Buttermere, St Ives where world famous artists reside, Wast Water(Englands Deepest Lake)and Millom a small coastal town with beautiful views of the Lakeland Fells and 2 Blue Flag beaches at Haverigg and Silecroft, not forgetting Kent the garden of England.

Finally, the best for last. Visit Wales (Cymru), the land of castles and the Dragan, a beautiful, unspoilt country ideal for those into hiking and all kinds of outdoor pursuits as well as vibrant cities like Cardiff and Swansea with much more.

Basildon - although for some reason it comes up on the map as near Reading, is in South Essex.  And the only thing that could possible qualify as a tourist attraction?  Bas Vegas. Bas Vegas is officially the Festival Leisure Park, and consists of the following amenities: 1X cinema 1X bowling alley 1X "nightclub" 1X chicago rock cafe 4X chain restaurants, including a Nandos and an all you can eat chinese buffet. The fact that the locals affectionately refer to this as Bas Vega...

6.30. I'm having my tea with my parents. Mobile goes. It's Marion - "What are you doing ringing me on a Saturday?" "What are you doing tonight? I've got free tickets to see the Arctic Monkeys at the Leadmill. Do you want to come?" Do I ever. Watch Doctor Who: "Daleks in Manhatten". Possibly the best episode ever. Mad dash home to get changed and off to get the bus. Bus takes ages to come. Marion's in the Cremorne with a glass of red wine already lined up. The Monkeys are on at nine fo...

Last day in London for the semester before I head home for Christmas, and then come back for another crazy four months. Today I wanted to sit and reflect on my time here thus far, but instead had to run a bunch of errands, pack, AND go to class. Oh well.
