Touch Down Melbourne

Me in Melbourne

I had booked a Virgin Blue flight to Melbourne for about 1 o'clock in the afternoon, Dougie was following later in the day

Going through Sydney airport I was randomly stopped so that they could do some weird thing to check for explosives. The woman ran a strip of material over my hands and in my bag and then put it into a machine. Thankfully I was clean.

I got on the Sky Bus shuttle bus to the centre of Melbourne which was quick and easy and only cost 15 dollars. Once in the city they even supplied a smaller bus to transfer me to my hotel with no extra charge.

I checked into the modest hotel, Ibis Hotel. It was a reasonable price, clean and tidy. Before Dougie arrived I went out for a walk around to get a feel for Melbourne. It seemed very different to Brisbane or Sydney, there is a hint of being "to cool for school" in areas but it's still laid back.

Myself and Dougie opted for Chinese Restaurant in China Town, it was pretty good but I'm still getting used to the BYO (Bring your own drinks) policy in Australia.

I was swabbed at gatwick this month for explosives...I don't think we all look like possible terrorists though! :D

Hahaha... the last two times I've taken international flights from Sydney I've been 'randomly' selected for explosives testing. I think it's just the sub-contracted tester being lazy. I always wonder what they would do if I tested positive :)
