Shanghai Shopping And A Chinese Haircut
I woke up late and was glad that I caught up on some much needed sleep, Shanghai seemed quite familiar for some reason and just didn't seem as exotic, "foreign" or as exciting as Beijing.
Myself and Kenton spent the day in the shopping area, it was much like being at home. We managed to avoid KFC and Maccy D's and found a Japenese noodle bar. I opted for curried beef noodles and avoided anything too spicy although my body seems to be coping well with all the spicy food thrown at it lately. We spent an hour in the Internet cafe catching up on emails and the like before Kenton strangely decided he was going to get his hair cut.
I left him to it in the hair dressers and I headed around the shops with little intention of buying anything (Just like at home!). About 2-3 hours later, Kenton still hadn't emerged from the hair dressers. I decided to go in and see where he had got to, non of the assistants could speak any English so I thought they wanted to chop some of my hair off before I worked out they were telling me that Kenton was at the back of the shop in the corner. I headed back to the hotel on my own and left Kenton sat in the hair dressers chair worrying about his new Shanghai hair do.
In the evening the group went out for a pleasant meal. Whilst we were helping ourselves to the many strange and varied dishes that confronted us the conversation turned to the topic of Shanghai. Most of the group concluded that they preferred Shanghai to Beijing, I tended not to agree as Shanghai just hadn't given me any surprises and I wanted to be surprised after a 10 hour flight and a 16 hour train journey.
