Muang Ngoi - Just Like Jarassic Park!
So far I've found Laos to be the most amazing place for scenery so far on my trip. I found it strange as I have never read much about Laos being so beautiful in the guide books but it certainly surpasses what I saw in China and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I woke late in Nong Khiaw, well, late for Laos as everyone seems to get up at 6 in the morning with those pesky cockerels! As I got up I checked my mozzie net for any large creatures that might have been caught in the night, but to my disappointment there was non (although there was a beast of a spider in the toilet).
We grabbed some lunch of rice, eggs and veggies at the river side before boarding a tiny boat bound for a village called Muang Ngoi. Before we boarded the boat Chorlotte spotted some friends she had met in Thailand. They were a couple of Aussie guys, two English guys and one English girl and all seemed a pretty lively bunch. Once we arrived in Muang Ngoi I felt it was time to chill out and take it easy for a while and I was definitely in the right place.
Huge mountains covered in dense green jungle, mist lingering above with a large powerful river flowing by. That is what was waiting for me when I arrived in Muang Ngoi, a small village only accessible via boat.
In the evenings the small village tended to shut down at 10 o'clock with all of the lights turned out. Myself, Lucy and Alex (One of the English guys) played cards before the plug was pulled on the power leaving us stumbling thorough the dark to find our huts.
