The Forbidden City and The 70's Acrobats

Tianiman Square

Most of the tour group headed out to the Forbidden City today. The weather was hot and muggy which made it hard work walking around such a huge place. Before entering the Forbidden City we strolled through Tianiman Square which I had aready walked past twice a couple of days before. The Forbidden City cost 60 yuan to enter and I really enjoyed it, the history surrounding it was very interesting.

In the evening we took a bus to the Chinese Acrobats which I found very amusing due to its retro styling and sound track. The French girl from the tour sat on my right and found the costumes and drama of the whole thing hilarious. Although the acrobats were very impressive the communist backward style of the whole thing made it hilarious, the costumes were terrible and looked like they had come out of the seventies. One guy was wearing a skin tight bright green number that made him look like the latest comic book super hero "toxic man". As if his toxic green "budgie smuggling" attire complete with cape (I kid you not!) wasn't enough, next a female acrobat wearing a pair of large swan type wings, one of which was broken a drooping hit the stage. It was worth going just for the customes alone.
