Final Destination

Again the "Final Destination" curse struck. I was taking a shower after getting out of bed at about 11 o'clock in the morning. There I was whistling away with the shower off and a roll on deodorant in one hand. I was vigorously shaking the deodorant because it was nearly empty when I slipped on the wet floor. Somehow I managed to hit myself hard in the face with the roll on! Right in the eye socket, bang! I had some blood running from the site of the impact, tomorrow I may have a black eye but at least for today my eye won't be sweating in the Singapore heat.

Singapore Strolling

I had stumbled across my guest house in Singapore by accident. It was clean, new and very friendly. I stayed in the dorm room which cost $18 a night sharing with about 11 other people. Fortunately the guest house (Pass By Guest House - Little India) was just across the road from a stadium and the Singapore Football Association where a friend of mine, Neil from university days was working. Neil had been living in Singapore for four years and had no intention of moving back to the UK.

I met up with Neil after he had finished work and we headed out to catch some food. We dinned at a food court where you can select various different dishes from different stalls. I have no idea what Neil ordered but it all tasted pretty good.

We zipped around on Singapore's efficient underground, I had no idea where we went or how we got there I just let Neil navigate. The underground was easy to use and relatively cheap.

The following day I went from a walk around the centre of Singapore stopping at the Raffles Hotel for a couple of snap shots. It was pretty impressive but a lot smaller than I had expected. In the evening myself, Neil and his friend headed to China town for something to eat. In China Town, much like most of Singapore there wasn't any rubbish or litter in sight. The food in China Town was great, we ate as much as we could from one of the many food stalls on the street. Unlike Kuala Lumpur there were no rats to be found.

I had a good time in Singapore, my guest house was great and the city was clean and efficient. Although I think 2-3 day would have been enough and I was very much ready for my flight to Australia.

At this point I should mention that I have been delaying my blog for a reason. Basically my mother was visiting my brother in Australia and on the 2nd of December it would be her 60th Birthday. Due to this I had changed my flights so that I could turn up in Brisbane as a surprise on her Birthday. This meant I had to temporarily put my blog on hold as my Mother would probably have been suspicious if she knew I was in Singapore.
