Cycling To Moon Hill

We checked out of "faulty towers" at 10 in the morning and grabbed some much needed breakfast before we took a long bike ride through the countryside to Moon Hill. The scenery was breath taking as we rode through rice fields, villages and past locals going about their daily farming. On route we all (apart from Lesley, the Aussie girl) jumped into the river to cool off as we were all sweating  so much in the 37 degrees heat. The guide for or bike ride had cunningly got himself a motorbike while we all had to pedal as fast as we could whilst our clothes were dripping with sweat. Eventually we made it to Moon Hill and began the long climb to the top followed three quarters of the way up by local women trying to sell cans of coke and water. Once at the top the view of the mountains with villages, rivers and rice fields intertwined was spectacular and non of my photos would ever do it justice.

That afternoon we ate lunch in a small village where the menu offered "fried frog" and "fried snail", we went for the more obvious fish, tofu and rice amongst other dishes. Stuffed with all the food we had eaten we got back on the bikes for the final push to where we were staying next. We finally made it, most of us exhausted from the heat and exercise to a tiny little village where we were staying. Our rooms were pretty basic but also equipped with the much needed mozzie net over the bed. Before we ate dinner it tipped it down, cooling the air and giving us all some rest bite from the intense heat. I had a couple of beers and sat out chatting with one of the English girls, George and Lesley the Aussie before heading to bed.
