Buzzing Xi'an And The Muslim Quarter

I woke up on the train as the steward walked briskly by opening all the curtains on the carriage, some strange tinny music suddenly started playing. We got off the train and onto a bus outside Xi'an train station and headed to our hotel, yet again it was a very humid day and everyone was struggling with their luggage.

After we had checked into our basic hotel we headed out around Xi'an for a brief tour of where the sights and attractions were. Most of us decided to hire bikes to ride around the top of Xi'an City Walls. I was sweating in the heat and the bike ride was a good way to catch a cool breeze, although the plastic seats left a nasty sweat patch for one of the English girls but it soon dried out.

In the evening we all met up and wandered to the Muslim Quarter of Xi'an that was buzzing with markets and restaurants. We sat in a restaurant and ordered some food to share, most of which was way too spicy, I probably ate a bit too much as I was bracing myself for the worst the next day.

After eating, seven of us went for another beer at a bar which is usually frequented by foreigners, hence why the beer was more expensive than usual. We watched a bit of the football highlights and headed back to the hotel. It has to be said the world cup coverage in China is far better than it is back home, most of the shops you pass seem to have the football on a TV in the background.

Myself and Kenton, my room mate where victims of a couple of knock-and-run incidents at about 1:45 in the morning. As amusing as this was we couldn't seem to pin point exactly who the culprit was but I'm sure we'll find out in the next couple of days.
