Battambang

After a slight change of plan (although I don't really have one) I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to catch the slow boat down the river to Cambodia's second largest town, Battambang. The boat sailed past some interesting floating villages, fishermen and children playing in the river. On the way I had met Ben, a guy from New Zealand who had been traveling in Malaysia. Six hours later and after reading half of my new book we got of the boat and bartered for a room in a comfortable hotel (the royal hotel, 6 US Dollars a night, split).

Later on we took motor taxi's to seemingly the only bar in town to play some pool and have a few beers. As we arrived, Yan, Caroline and the Italian guy from Siem Reap shout to me from the corner of the Riverside bar. They had left for Battambang a day earlier on the slow boat and were heading the next day to Bangkok, but it was good to see them again. We had a few drinks and met up for dinner at the Smokin' Pot Restaurant.
