The last day of our vacation. Jan 29th. And it was a long day ahead of us, entirely on the road. We started out at about 9, knowing that there's about 13 hours of road ahead of us. After a beautiful drive through roads curving gently through the ghat foothills right out of Ganeshgudi, we hit NH4A, which can easily be described as the worst road I've hit in a while. It was a 30-40 kms of pothole ridden drive to Belgaum. Had it not been for an amusing message found on the rear of a truck, it would have been a total loss. Trucks in India are known for some really innovative lines :-), but this one absolutely took the cake - "You've been a bad girl, Go to my room!".
In Belgaum, we finally got what we had been look all through while on the road - a music CD of Rockstar :-)... Tanked up on fuel and we're all set heading to Bagalkot and then look for our way to Bijapur, Gulbarga and then Hyderabad. Not much to talk about the drive except that we actually missed Bhagalkot and hit Bijapur directly, going via a town call Mudhol.
Hitting Bijapur around 2.30, we had a quick lunch and decided to make sure we see the famous Gol Gumbaz to make good the visit! Rest of the drive was uneventful and we were a tired bunch finally hitting Hyderabad at 11 in the night after a few stops... ready to crash and show up in office the next day, back to the daily grind.
