Karli - Dolphin jump demo
Got up the next morning, paid our fee for the nights stay and were off to have a look around. Karli had seen this advertisement in one of the brochures for a small animal park with Kangaroos and dolphins, etc. This was going to be our first encounter with the Australian wildlife! The park was OK, it was small and I have definitely seen better. But we did get to pet some Kangaroos, and actually got to pet the dolphins. Karli was also picked to help with one of the Dolphin jumping demonstrations. We didn't stay too long before we were on the road wanting to make it into Byron Bay which is were we were going to set up camp for the night. We also found out that Byron Bay used to be home for Paul Hogan from the Crocodile Dundee movies.
Our camper at our RV site in Byron Bay
We arrived into Byron Bay in the late afternoon, and decided to cook in that night and use our little kitchen and stove in our camper. After we found a nice little camper van park called Suffolk Park Holiday Park and checked in, we headed out to a local little super market to pick up some groceries. Byron Bay was definitely different...there was a very hippie vibe to the place. When we walked into the supermarket everyone was pretty much shoeless, and the guys were shirtless and shoeless. I think we were near a local surfer area hence everyone walking around in only swim suites and shorts. Picked up our groceries and then went and chilled out on the beach area before heading back to the campsite to make our burgers. Cooked up some great burgers and chatted with some other campers near us. Went to bed and was eager for the next day to arrive as we were headed to surfers paradise! And yes I was finally going to get to surf some waves!! SWEET DUDE!!!
