Arrived into Sydney Australia Friday morning....Wow, Can't believe we are actually here, down under, in the Southern Hemisphere! We arrived into Sydney's Kingsford-Smith airport....we were really liking these airports so far on this trip. Althought Singapore took the prize, Sydney's airport was also very nice and bright with bright colors everywhere. The terminal we were in had a surf theme with surf boards everywhere, very cool! Before we left England I had contacted a good friend of ours Josh who lives in Sydney with his wife Anna. Our plans were to stay the first night in a hotel, and then the next couple of nights with Josh and Anna at their condo on the beach! Josh had booked us a room at a place on Manly Beach.
..nothing fancy, just a place to crash and it was cheap. But the location was perfect! Unfortunatley I can't remember the name of the hotel, but again it was just a place to lay our heads. So, we left the airport and took a taxi to the ferry terminal, as we had to take a ferry from Sydney to Manly Beach. As we enjoyed the ferry boat ride and being on the ocean, fast approaching was the Sydney skyline and Harbour Bridge! What a SIGHT!! Amazing skyline, and as we passed under the bridge the iconic Sydney Opera house poppped into view! WOW! Cant describe the feeling we had as we were taking this all in. The ferry ride was about 30 mins and we arrived into Manly. Very cool beach community, and not as crowded as the famous Bondi Beach. If you are in Sydney, Manly Beach needs to be on your itinerary.
We got to the hotel...checked in and then headed straight for the beach. We were pretty exhausted by this point from the whirlwind past couple of days and jetlag, and we both ended up falling asleep on the beach for a couple of hours. Karli ended up getting a bad burn on her shoulder and arm as we crashed before we could even put sunscreen on. We woke up and enjoyed the last few hours on the beach, the peace & tranquility, and the laid back atmosphere of this town. We made our way back to hotel and got cleaned up and headed back out, had dinner at a place called Blue Ocean right on the Beach. Great day and we knew this was going to be an amzing city and country! So much to do and see in the next couple of weeks....
