back 'home' at camp

I truly cannot explain how joyous it was to arrive back at camp.
I flew into NYC, flight was delayed, didn't get to hostel & sleep til about 11:30pm (which according to my body clock was around 4:30am) and next day had the 7-hour train trip up to Vermont. But as we drove around the lake and saw all these familiar places I literally was dancing in my seat, and finally we came around the corner and I saw that sweet sign spellin' A-L-O-H-A.
I pretty much flew at everyone with joyous hugs, and it was just amazing. It was something akin to a homecoming, and since I haven't been home for the last year, this was a pretty good substitute. Even though I was quite tired & jetlagged, it was way too exciting to see all these people for me to go to bed, so we hung out for a while and caught up, and I really don't have words to describe what a fabulous feeling it was.
Next morning, finally seeing camp in the daylight again was also exciting - everything looks exactly the same, and of course it's all so familiar this time (instead of being dauntingly new) and there are so many good friends around.
The pre-camp week was once again chock-a-block full and a lot of hard work, but it was so much smoother for me because I knew what to expect and what was expected of me and, unlike last year, I didn't feel like I'd just been thrown in the deep end of a pool.
Already I feel like time is just flying by and camp is going to be over before I know it, but at the moment I'm absolutely loving being back!!
