We continued to visit by car the neighbouring of Ostuni, enjoying the lands with countless multicolored little flowers, the olive groves thriving nearly everywhere , the harvest with large nets of some of the 60 millions olive trees of Apulia that produces more than 200 millions oil liters a year, nearly half of Italy's total volume of oil.
We didn't miss its vineyards now often irrigated producing one tenth of the wine drunk in Europe,it's the Italy's most prolifique grape producer.Apulia has a long tradition of wine culture since the ancient Greeks(8 th century B.
We had a look at Locorotondo,a small and attractive hilltop village, one of the Borghi più belle d'Italia. Its round centro storico is a white-washed maze of narrow lanes with historic buildings. The main sight is the Romanesque chiesa della Madonna della Greca(our Lady of Greece) with a beautiful central rose window.
We had a nice lunch at the restaurant of the Citta Biancà hotel between Cisternino and Ostuni with planturous hot and cold antipasti and pasta before driving back Ostuni.
