Today is the first full day spent in Phuket. Getting to know a British guy who supposed to be my roommate but found a big bedbug when he started to unpack his stuff. He spoke to the hotel staff and moved to another room straight away. He came back and asked me if I had any plan or would like go for a walk along the beach. I was gladly agreed. We rented a beach towel cost 20bht a day. Then I followed him to walk to the beach. He noticed that I was a bit quiet on the way, but he was ok with it. I said that's how I normally was, especially to the people I just met. He said usually when he walked through that Soi, he always got harrassed by the massage girls who were really aggressive and insistent. Now he's walking with me, no one came to harrass him cos they thought I was his girlfriend.

He didn't want to get tanned, cos he's easily get sunburnt. I didn't want the heat of the sun either, so we decided to find a cool shade on the beach to lie down. Both of us prefer quiet area, so that we can watch people at the other side and avoid hassle from hawkers trying to sell us drinks etc. I cannot remember his name now, but he seemed a nice and considerate guy, unlike those drunk Brits in Paihia I shared dorm with, who attached me at midnight. He even felt surprised himself that he had talked so much, as we just met for a few minutes. I found interesting some guys I know for years never talk certain topics with me, but this guy I just met talked so much, although he kept checking if I was offended with something he said.

I was ok but just a bit surprised and wondering if he talked these things with all strangers or just very comfortable talking with me. I got to know that he has been living in Thailand in one year as a English teacher, had travelled lots of places in Thailand. He didn't plan to do much, just relaxing and do some tours like a real tourist for a short break. I don't know how long we stayed at the beach until I felt the shade had already moved halfway away from me. He helped me take some pictures of me, and then we walked to find a restaurant to eat. He's a vegetarian and he asked me if I was fussy with food. I told him I'm a Chinese, I can eat everything. Wherever you pick, I just follow you. Then we walked a while, found more Indian restaurants than Thai restaurants in that area.

He checked an Egyptian restaurant, but not much vegetarian choices, so we kept walking. Finally he picked an Indian restaurant, and he wasn't sure if I would want to get inside, as I never dine in an Indian restaurant before. But I decided to have a try as I was starving. I ordered crab Masala with steam rice and mineral water. I finished the big bowl of rice, but not the small crab dish. It's a bit oily, felt like eating an oil paste with a little crushed crabmeat in. It's not very delicious but eatible for me, and it was a bit pricy cost me 420bht. After lunch, we decided head back to the hotel, he said he felt a bit tired just wanna have a rest. Maybe he's bored with me. I felt a bit sleepy after walking in the sunshine, so I head back in my room and took a nap.
When I woke up, my other two South African party animal roommates already came back. One of them said they haven't sleep for past few days. The night before, one of them brought a bar girl back, didn't know that this hotel has strict policy about the guest visit. There was a paper at the back of the toilet warning no guest visit, especially bar girls. It is said believe or not in Thailand postitution is illegal, if found any bar girls being brought in, they would report to the police straight away. Interesting, same thing in China, it's illegal but it's an open secret and they're everywhere. They've been kicked out of the dorm for that night, and I don't know where they spent rest of the night. I just woke up in the midnight and heard they're mixing some drinks trying to make a cocktail.

Then they went away. Later I heard some conversation in Thai in the room. I didn't understand what they said. I thought I was dreaming for a second, cos no one speaks Thai in our dorm. Then I opened my eyes saw a Thai girl in a white T-shirt in the dark night, sitting at the bed of one South African guy's bed. The other bar staff standing next to the door very seriously yelling at her to get she out. Tonight they're planning to go somewhere else for bar crawl and invited me. The naughty boy said why aren't you join us, come on let's have some fun in the bar, and grab some ladyboy's bum. He asked me if I've watched Ping Pong show, I said no, though I can imagine what's that all about. He asked how old I was, and he guessed I was 18-19 cos I looked very innocent.
He even asked me if I like Justin Bieber. I can't help laughing that I was too old and energyless to enjoy those young people's activities. When I wake up they're sleeping, and when I am asleep they're busy with bar hopping. Our time never fits each other. The previous american girl came back to our dorm trying to drag one of the South African guy for a beer. Apparently they had good time together previously. He was topless in the hot dorm. The girl kept asking him "Put your shirt on, you make me sin". The cheeky boy refused to do so, instead he put his pants off, only left his undie on and invited girl to undress. They did a few push and drag, at last the girl was impatient and ditched them went out alone. They took bath and went to bed sleeping, and I was starving and walked out to grab something to eat, then went for a walk along the colorful neon night streets.
The previous night when I walked along the beach street, it was suddenly blacked out after a strong wind breeze. It was a bit scary, consider it was the Tsunami area 7 years ago, and I was unfamiliar with the location. If Tsunami happened at night at this time again, I'd be screwed. I had to go to a shop and asked the owner for direction to Jungceylon shopping centre, lucky it wasn't very far. When I came back, those boys were up and ready for the pickup from the party bus. They've got limited seat, so I didn't go with them. The next early morning, they'll be leaving to Phi Phi island, and I can enjoy peace and quiet.
