Milford Sound & Helicopter Ride
Thurs
5
This
morning was an early start leaving the hotel at 7 am. We hopped onto a bus and started our journey
to Milford Sound. Along the way we saw
mirror lakes, and the chasm an enormous rock formation worn from hundreds or
millions of years of water wear. There
was a lot of snow!!! It was quite cold
and we ended up buying woolen shirts to stay warm with. Upon arriving in Milford Sound, we got onto a
ferryboat and had lunch. The sights
aboard the boat were absolutely amazing! We saw a Waller fall that dwarfs
Niagara Falls at 154 to 54 meters. We
also got to see a fur seal warming himself on a rock. The mountains were so impressive they give the
Rocky’s a run for their money. After our
boat trip we boarded a 6 man helicopter and flew to the top of a glacier to get
out and walk around!!! It was one of the
coolest experiences of my life! We got
to fly back to Queenstown, in a fraction of the bus time allowing us a nice
dinner downtown.
