So by now you would have guessed that we have walked quite a long way and seen quite a few sites and to be honest we are starting to fade, the feet are hurting, the knee is aching; we need a holiday J to that end we decided to chill out and take it easy and just see some sites.

We caught the subway downtown to Brooklyn Bridge and took a leisurely walk across the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn. We didn’t choose the coolest day to take the walk (high 80s) with an increasing level of humidity (looking forward to the next rain). The walk took a good hour to complete but was broken up by ice cream down by the river and just watching the world go by as we sat by the river. The area of Brooklyn was a lot like Pyrmont with little cafes, nice parks close to the city yet none of the hustle and bustle.

Walking around the river front there was lots of modern art one piece caught my eye though ‘Buddha Boy’ by Staurt Nicholson, I could see dad putting something like this out with his spare time now he’s retired J

We walked back to the subway and caught the train back to SOHO for a general walk around. SOHO was nice, reminded me a lot of Paddington with quirky shops, lots of fashion shops. Walked around some more had a coffee and went back to hotel. The afternoon was spent with domestic duties doing the washing etc so much fun on holiday!

Later that night we went for some dinner at a restaurant in Downtown - Les Halles a Parisian Brasserie, this place was very busy which makes sense as it was Bastille Day J After waiting over 45minutes for a table and Kath getting extremely grumpy as we hadn’t eaten since 11 that morning (it was now 9:30) we got a seat.

It was worth the wait! The food was amazing; my steak could have been cut with a butter knife and Kaths braised beef literally fell apart. Finished off the bottle of wine, knocked off the cheese plate and rolled out to the subway.

Started the previous blog entry and then fell asleep J

Today was spent in Central Park, reading and relaxing. The days are getting hotter and even more humidity, it must be going to rain soon to cool it all down again. Down to the last 2 days in NYC, tomorrow will be a museum day and some general running around on Tuesday morning before flying out to London. Very much looking forward to the next leg of the journey and catching up with friends which I haven’t seen in a long time.
