beach but no sunshine
Arrial do Cabo was the next destination after Ilha Grande, it is locvated to the east of Rio on a peninsula just befotre the coastline turns north. We had to catch a couple of buses to get there and ended up actually going through Rio as we had to change buses at the Rio bus terminal. We decided not to stop there as we are going to return before we fly out to Europe.
We arrived in Arrial about 7pm and headed for the closest HI hostel, ehich we didn´t manage to find, so we had to walk back to the bus station and get a cab. The driver really ripped us, but what can you do? We got there so not too many problems. The hostel was actually empty when we got there and it stayed empty till we left, just sarah and i and the lady running it, very quaint indeed.
The hostel was very nice, with a lovely outside area, reading and games rooms and even cable TV (i got to watch baywatch, just as good as i remember it!).Tragically the weather wasn´t the best while we were there, however the town was a beautiful little place to walk around. I think during the summer it would be a great place filled with Brazillians, we just miss timed a little. We did a couple of walks to local beaches but ended up only staying for two nights and left early in the morning.
Only problem with heading to these little brasillian towns is you spend about half the time there trying to work how you are going to get out of there and to your next destination. This place certainly was a doozie to get further north, see Porto Seguro.
