The poms trying to drive

Our Ica trip (as for most visitors) is for sand boarding. And so it was.

We had a nice little breakfast sitting under the trees in the garden laughing at the interaction of the multitude of noisy birds (parrots, cockatoos etc that they have), the kitten and the dog. All of the pets appear to be mad.

At 11 we were bundled into an 8-seater 4x4 vehicle that I wont even try to describe (refer photos) for a bit of adrenaline prior to our first effort at sand boarding. The ride is awesome and gives a real rush. Almost vertical drops, corners at 45 degrees and some serious speed over the san. At the sight of the first downhill we were all wondering why there were no baby slopes to get us started.

As the shirt says
When we got to the second slope we realised that it was the baby slope. Nice. We went down the second one again and then moved to the 3rd, which is the largest. There are 3 ways of going down the dunes: standing, sitting or lying down. Lying down is the fastest and standing is the hardest. Most, including Kat, went for the standing option, there were a couple who went for lying down (fastest) and a I went for the sitting (lazy option with most sand up the nose). Kat was a star and did really well. Got some cool video of her. The 3rd dune was huge. About 300m down. If that was snow, that would have been really scary.

After that we just went and chilled at the pool at the hostel for a while with a couple of English and Dutch guys.

We popped into Ica for a bite and to find out about a tour to Nasca. Not too much to see.
