A chronicle of living in Thailand for 3 years. I was based in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, but tried to travel around the country as much as possible. Reviews of things to do, places to eat, places to go and different experiences.

The Journey Continues...

After our delicious ba mii moo dang lunch we hit the road again bound for Sukhothai. We somehow managed to get a bit lost on the way there, but eventually made it after a bit of a detour.

Unfortunately it was the hottest time of the year in one of the hottest places in the country, but it was a kind of now or never situation with all our schedules. Luckily we found really great (air-conditioned) rooms at a nice little place called Old City Guest House for 500 baht a night. Very reasonable and great rooms with comfortable beds. Something that is worth a lot here... most places have rock hard beds that are about the same as sleeping on the floor.

After settling in and a shower and a nap, we headed into town to find a place to hang out, grab some food and drink some beers.

It was so hot none of us wanted to really do anything. We all just sat around and drank glasses of Leo beer with ice in them (a Thai custom, which though it seems weird at first is actually really awesome when it's bloody hot out!). Mike and I walked around a bit and checked out the town. Not too much going on, so we didn't make it very far. Mostly just went to 7-11 and bough ice cream. Then afterwards we came back and hung out again and had a few more beers. Luckily for us it started to rain really hard, which cooled it off and cleared it up.

By the time we ran through the rain to our guest house we were ready to snuggle into our air-conditioned rooms and anticipate the awesome day to come.
