A chronicle of living in Thailand for 3 years. I was based in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, but tried to travel around the country as much as possible. Reviews of things to do, places to eat, places to go and different experiences.
The best Italian food this side of the Mekong
This is our favourite Italian joint in town. The food is awesome and the staff are great. Basically the two factors that "make" a restaurant in my books! The recipes are all authentically Italian and the food excellent quality.

My family has been going here for a few years now, basically since they opened, and it's our favourite spot to go. They are totally accommodating to my loud raucous family and put up with all our weird requests. We love it so much in fact that it's become our new year's spot. Like many places in town, they have a liberal "bring your own bottle" (BYOB) policy and let us bring our own wine or champagne as the occasion may call for.

Some favourite dishes:
- Caprese salad (with homegrown Italian basil... something impossible to find in Thailand!)
- Garden salad with homemade Italian dressing
- Grilled veggies with pesto
- Spinach gnocchi with tomato or cream sauce (or mixed!)
- Spinach ravioli with chicken and ricotta
- Grilled fillet of sole
- Calzone with spinach, ham & mushrooms
- Spaghetti arcobaleno

And on and on... basically everything is good there, but we're all stuck on our favourite dishes. If you're far from home and craving some non-Thai food, then this is the place to go!

Buon appetito!

Glad you enjoyed the food! I hear you about the toilets. It's definitely a point for improvement!
