A chronicle of living in Thailand for 3 years. I was based in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, but tried to travel around the country as much as possible. Reviews of things to do, places to eat, places to go and different experiences.
Great Value & Great Location
A really centrally located guest house that is extremely clean and safe. There are a ton of guest houses in Chiang Mai and sometimes it's hard to know which one to choose. I feel like this place is the whole package in one for those who are looking for a budget option but don't want to stay in a total craphole.

The owner of the guest house is incredibly nice and helpful. When my partner was staying there a year ago and got really sick, the owner organised to take him to hospital and took care of his stuff at the guest house. He's also very safety conscious and locks the main gate at about 8pm so that randoms can't just wander in. There's no curfew and guests can come and go as they please through the security gate.

The rooms are all new and kept extremely clean. Everything is very basic, but comfortable enough if you're used to travelling on the budget circut. The beds are your typical Thai guest house beds, none too soft, but fine.

The guest house is also able to arrange for any activities for you and will help you with advice on local attractions.

The location is great and right in the hub of the travellers' section of town, so it's easy to get around and arrange to go on tours or take cooking classes. The guest house is just set off the main road, so it's a bit quieter than those near some night spots.

Overall, I'd say you can't beat the Siri Guest House as a budget accommodation in a great location.
