Today started fine until we got onto our first class train car.  There were NO LUGGAGE racks for the whole car, just tiny overhead bins.  There were so many people with large luggage we all just stuck them on empty seats.  When the Conductor was asked about the issue, his reply was that’ a problem.  He did not have a solution.  Other than that it was an uneventful ride.  We had good seats with a small table which faced 2 other seats.  We sat across a very nice young couple, he was a Captain in the army on leave she flew in from North Caroline to meet her husband for a few days, and we really enjoyed their company.

Once we got to Vienna, we were met by a travel agent and a driver.  The Hotel is nice, our room leaves a lot to be desired, but it is clean.  After The Hotel’s in Berlin and Prague we are sort of spoiled.  Once we settled in we went out to see some of Vienna.  There is an Island in the middle of the Danube River, we took the subway to it, and thinking is going to some sort of park.  Boy were we wrong, it is a huge concrete jungle, nothing but huge ultra modern glass buildings that seemed to be apartments and offices.  Just horrible.  We got back on the subway back to the main side of the River, another that also proved to be a disappointment.  Back to the hotel for Dessert.  We will see if things are better tomorrow, on our 3 hour city tour  that is  part of this  rail tour that we are on.
