SCENE FROM THE LAGOON
Having a great time on this tour we really enjoying our fellow travelers, they are fun loving with a great sense of humor. Today started with a boat ride to the Island of Murano, an island whose sole business is glass blowing We saw a demonstration of a horse and a vase being made, very interesting. The show rooms had beautiful and expensive glass products. A four piece Penguin set cost 24,000 Euros, that’s about $35000.00. Darcy did not buy it.
Back on the boat, we landed at St. Marks Square, a huge square full of people and pigeons, surrounded by gorgeous palaces on three sides and Saint Marks church. There we went into the 14th century Doges’ Palace, a fantastic place, the golden Basilica of San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs.
The Bridge of Sighs is the bridge the connects the old trial chambers with the old jail in the middle of the bridge there is a small window that has a great view of Venice the prisoners would sight as they would see Venice sometimes for the last time. After lunch we went on a Gondola ride with 14 other of our fellow travelers. We both love Venice it’s very scenic and alive but it is very expensive.
