Hotels

I never stayed in a Leuven hotel before, as is logical since I live here myself. But there are some locations that are very authentic due to their history or setting, and some others of which I heard really good comments by friends. So those are the places listed below.
For a complete list of all accomodations, I again refer to my first blog entry, where you can find the website URL of the touristic service of Leuven.

This is the (youth) hostel of Leuven, offering about 116 beds. Rooms aren't that big (from 2 to 6 beds) and they all have private bathrooms. This is a quite big and modern building, that is constructed only some years ago.
Breakfast is included in the price, but also lunch (5,50 euro) and diner (8,40 euro for three courses) can be booked when you check in and their both great.
Blauwput has all the facilities of a regular hostel (bars, lounges, garden, etc.) and is just behind the station, on walking distance of the center of Leuven.
You need to be a member of VJH to pay only 17 euro's per night. Other visitors pay a supplement of 3 euro's per night.

"Het Klooster", or translated "The cloister", is one of the most authentic hotels in Leuven, located in the hart of the city. It is housed in an old abbey building, and offers 4 different types of rooms, all beautifully decorated. There are facilities for business meetings as well.
Rooms go from 205 to 330 euros per person, or 235 to 260 for double rooms. Absolutely not the price I'm willing to pay for a hotel room, yet this place is absolutely charming. Breakfast buffet is said to be remarkably tasty (I've heard that of a friend of mine, who stayed in this hotel many times).
So anyone looking for something a bit luxury and fancy, in an authentic and quiet setting yet in the center of Leuven, must choose this place!

The Theater Hotel is located in the very hart of Leuven, across the theater and at the "Bondgenotenlaan", one of the most important streets that runs from the station to the Grand Place. It is brand new and has an Art Gallery attached to it, called Sango.
There are about 21 rooms here, with private baths, television, telephone, radio, free internet connection, etc. Breakfast buffet is included in the price of the room (about 130 euro's per night). The lobby as well has free internet connection.
Do you feel like a snack or copious breakfast, a steaming cup of coffee or a genuine draught Leffe? You don't even have to go outside! The Leffecafé on the ground floor has everything just to your liking! This is a great café, mainly because it has some student discounts worth mentioning.
