HOT-lanta, really!

When visiting big cities and being conscious of the travel budget, I usually look for alternatives where I can stretch my dollar to the max. One of the strategies I have exercised and worked for me so far is to book a place to stay on the perimeter of the big city, not in the downtown area.

There are few considerations, though. First, I make sure that the hotel is near a subway station or bus stop or other kinds of public transport. Then, I also make sure that the hotel offers free breakfast. It will come really handy because places on the perimeter do not necessarily adopt the downtown conveniences. Other considerations will be the nearby attractions that I wouldn’t find in elsewhere.

Residence Inn by Marriott in Chamblee, Atlanta had all that. And some. It is a fairly new property and very modern. Very nice interior design and landscape. Very clean. I was impressed.

I got a great rate for the room I reserved. It was a king bedroom suites with kitchen and living room, and a little dining area and office. Very cute, almost looked like an apartment. There were two TVs – you heard it. One in the bedroom and the other in the living room. No fighting this time, I could watch the football game in the bedroom. ☺

The hot breakfast was awesome. They served not only the standard cereal, bagel, and coffee and toast, but also make-your-own waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage, and fruit and juices. It was just great.

When I came back to the hotel from exploring Atlanta and too tired to go out again get something to eat, I just whip up something on the stove or heat up something or make some popcorn in the microwave. Then I can kick back and enjoy my meal.

I recommend this hotel. It is a great hotel overall, including the service, staff, amenities, and quality of the property.
