Tovar, German Colony in the mountains of Venezuela

Tovar is about 2 hours away by bus from Caracas. Founded in 1843 by German settlers, the city remained isolated from the rest of the world until 1960. Today, this hillside town is mainly a weekend getaway destination for local people. you can expect German looking house, beer breweries, sausages, potato salad and saurkraut for lunch and lot of hill climbing.
