Pod Flying in London

Fish and Chips are what's on the menu for lunch.

We conquered new heights yesterday! Early yesterday morning, we embarked on a double-decker bus towards the British Airways London Eye. All 15 members of our group took a flight in our own private pod; three of us not liking heights much. Proudly, the three of us made it through the 30 minute trip without getting neither sick nor crying like a baby.

Afterwards, it was onto Platform 9 ¾ from the Harry Potter Films. It was amazing to stand in Kings Cross and know the history of it in the filming of movies; given that I am a huge fan and all. We were able to get some great pictures from Kings Cross and other areas before heading out to The Sherlock Holmes Restaurant where we indulged in London Fish and Chips.

Our stomachs were full of the local eats when we headed out to a River Thames tour from Embankment.

We didn’t mind the sun on our faces or the river breeze on our faces as we turned left and right to gaze upon such sights as London Bridge, Parliament, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Royal Festival Hall, and more.

The group split up and since Greg and I did not want to see the musical “Wicked” (at £24 per person), we decided to head back to dinner on our own. It was at a local restaurant that we had our next English meal of Beef Pie and Chips and then decided to head back to the hotel for an early night’s sleep.

The day’s most interesting find was that restaurants in London do not hold reservations and they usually have you sit down at a numbered table, decide what you want from the menu, order it and pay for it at the bar, and then have it bought to your table when ready. It took us about 15 minutes of waiting for someone to take our order before we read the front of the menu that told us how to order. Luckily, they don’t expect tips here; especially when you serve yourself. *laugh*

Today’s adventures includes checking out from our hotel early, heading to the Star Wars convention (which we were lucky enough to be here at the same time), over to Harrods for a bit of shopping, then heading out in the early evening for our overnight sleeper train ride from London to Scotland.
