On the Road

A full two weeks to see as much scenery as we can, including gardens, waterfalls, mountains, waterfalls, canyons, waterfalls, flowers, waterfalls, this time in more of the great northwestern part of the U.S. Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, back to Idaho, Nevada and home.

On the Road

A very pretty and friendly white peacock.

We were up and on the road earlier than expected this morning.  All our planning, and then pre-packing, except for last minutes items made it easy.  And of course, who can sleep well the night before a big vacation?  Nobody.

So instead of an 8:30 departure, we were on the road just after 8a.m.  Good, that meant an extra half hour somewhere!  Nice clear summer day with the temperature about 77 degrees even that early in the morning.

Knowing that we had a 400 mile day ahead we stopped at a good place named Casa de Fruita, which is just west of the Pacheco Pass.  It was a good place to get out and stretch our legs after just over two hours of driving.  We topped off the tank and got a couple of pictures of a very pretty white peacock who wanted to come with us it seemed.  It followed us right to the car.  We waved good-bye to it as we closed the car doors and it slowly walked away.  I’ll let you know now that even out of the valley and headed through the pass towards the ocean now at 11a.m. it was still only about 75 degrees outside, and still clear with whispy clouds.
