End of day 4our
July 21, 2007
Our hotel for the might is the Best Western Pony Soldier. They got our reservation messed up and tried to put us in a smoking room. I quit about four years ago and although it doesn't bother me too much, it really bothers my wife, so we ended up having to change to what they claimed was all that was left at the price we wanted.
Gas tonight was $2.959 per gallon.
Waterfalls so far = 16, bridges = 2, tunnels 4
Dinner was at Heidi’s, which is walking distance from the hotel. A nice meal.
We were tired. At the hotel we relaxed and I wrote this blog entry.

The Best Western Hotel in Gresham, Oregon is a fairly new hotel style facility with inside corridors and elevators. There are two stories and an outdoor pool and spa within the courtyard area. A large lobby greets you as you enter and there is a very comfortable "living room" style area where you can sit and read or watch the people in the outdoor pool. The extended continental breakfast is served in a small breakfast area with a few tables. The room we had was on the lower level near the pool and was quite small, especially the bathroom. Care had to be taken when exiting the shower not to step into the toilet. This was one of a very few Best Western facilities that I would think twice about staying in again. For the price it just didn't measure up to the mark. I would rank it as maybe 2 ½ stars.

This is a family owned and operated restaurant located just across the parking lot from the Best Western Hotel in Gresham. It has been there since 1968 and is a large, well established eatery with a huge gift shop attached. There are several banquet rooms and they apparently do a lot of civic club business with number of civic club banners outside. That also means “good food”. And in this case is really did mean good food. Although busy, we were seated nearly immediately and served graciously and with a nice smile by our waitress, who made sure everything was to our liking. The prices were modest and the portions were good sized. I would eat here often if I lived in the area.
