Still, there's a coffee shop conveniently located just outside the Apple store, where we sat on the pavement and watched the suited saddos going to work, enjoying the freedom that being a tourist brings.
But even tourists sometimes have deadlines, and so, boarding the monorail, we headed off to the Chinese Garden of Friendship.
Despite being located in the middle of a city, the Chinese Garden has a tranquility that restores and connects, with its combination of plant, architecture and water features. It's quite an expansive garden, with numerous paths, pagodas and places to pause. Several groups were photographing themselves in traditional Chinese costume, but despite the number of people in the garden it did not feel at all crowded.
I was feeling a little wasted - whacked by a virulent respiratory infection - and so lingered in a quiet spot, sipping on Chinese gree tea, soaking up the peacefulness.
