The Story
June 28, 2007
Here I am sitting in front of the computer, unsure of what the future holds.
I am leaving in a week.
This is how it begins...
My mom, who's been learning Spanish for quite some time now, received a daily email and in the bottom corner was "Volunteer Abroad." Thinking of me (as usual), she passed it along, and I decided I needed an adventure this summer.
I am going with "Don Quijote" - an organization based out of Spain that offers intensive Spanish courses in various Latin American countries. In order to volunteer in one of these countries, I must know Spanish. So for the first 4 weeks, I will be in "school" (because I can't get enough of it). After I MASTER Spanish in a few short weeks, I will be placed in a volunteer position of my choice - hopefully with kids in a hospital. :)
Did I mention I will be living with an Ecuadorian family that DOESN'T speak English? Joy.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I'm slowly starting to get excited... SLOWLY...
