I was SO excited to leave for Paris!! We stored most of our luggage at the other hotel we would be at in London, and headed to Victoria Station to board the Eurostar. We said farewell to our hosts at Maraton House and to sweet Kensington. The train ride was about 2 1/2 hours, and we were in the Chunnell for 20 minutes.
As the train approache Paris, I could see the Eifffel Tower on the horizon....again, trying to contain myself and "be cool", but it was hard! Scott just laughed at me!
Gare du Nord is a beautiful Art Deco building in the theatre district. Funny thing: we finally figured out how to buy Metro passes, and I got stuck in the turnstyle, after Scott was thru. He was a little irritated, but we just went up to the street and got a cab.
After freshening up, we took the Metro to the Eiffel Tower. SO EXCITED!! I was like a little girl...It was beautiful, all lit up at night! And they had special lights all over it, and every so often the tower sparkled with these lights! It was magical! We hade such a great time looking over the City of Lights from the top of the Eiffel Tower! It was a n ight I will never forget!
After finally leaving the Eiffel Tower, we went for dinner at the oldest brasserie in Paris, just off the Champs-Eylsee. It was a wonderful dinner of steak and frites and great red wine!
