London, Day 1

So we arrived in London at around 9AM (it felt like 3 AM) at took the train from Gatwick to Victoria Station. If I had not been so tired, it would have been a lovely train ride! We got thru customs, which was easier than I expected, and hailed a cab to take us to our hotel. The cabs are really cute in London, BTW!
We stayed in the Maraton House Hotel in Kensington. Very charming neighbrohood! The inn was a hostel at some point, then converted to B&B style. The rooms were small of course, but at lest we had ensuite facilities! The owner was very nice and we setted in and napped for a bit before heading out.
We decided to stay around the neighborhood and we had a late lunch at Strata, and Italian bistro that had great thin crust pizza and some good wine! We enjoyed strolling thru the neighborhoods of Kensington and Notting Hill. The flats are so pretty and we discovered little courtyard gardens.
Two college students that we knew from Samford were studying abroad that semester, so we called them and met them at a pub for dinner. They were so excited to see someone from home! We had a great meal of meat pies, beer for Scott and wine for me. After dinner we walked around Kensington more and found Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana lived.
