I'm spending a month in florida living with my grandmother. I will be her caregiver, though I do hope to get out to the beach and enjoy the lovely warm florida sun. Who knows, maybe I'll actually get a tan this time!

Boredom and Beaches

Yesterday was less than eventful. I had night duty and had to take my grandmother to the bathroom every two hours.. definitely not too fun.
But, my mom and I got some free time for the first time since we've been home.
We went out to Casa del Sol for some amazing lunch.. mmmmmmmmmm mexican. then we went to the beach for a little bit, just to dip our feet in the water and to feel the sand beneath our toes. then we watched some television.. got my grandmother into Kyle XY which cracks me up. then she turned on The Incredible Shrinking Man on Turner Classic Movies and we made fun of it for a while... the man shrinks to be smaller than a spider and he has to survive... hah so this huge turantula comes up and he stabs it with a straight pin. and my 78 year old grandmother turns around and goes.... well isn't this a dumb movie!
hah I laughed for a good long while.
then I pretty much crashed on the couch...
nothing too riveting, but alas, I must blog anyway. It's an addiction!

Are you craving some amazing authentic mexican food and culture? Head on down to Cortez road and grab a bite to eat at Casa del Sol. The restaurant serves incredible authentically mexican food for cheap prices. They have a lunch special for two for only 10.95 and it allows you to choose two dishes from a long list. It comes with the soup of the day and rice and beans. They also offer complimentary chips and the best salsa I have ever tasted. The decor is that of old mexico. Vibrant colors adorn the restaurant, and beautiful vintage photos and advertisements line the walls. They even sell mexican folk art. There are several mirrors in the restaurant as well, giving the allure of a much larger place. It is quaint and incredible. Colorful paper cutouts line the ceiling and the walls have bits of adobe pieced together to create arches. Christmas style white lights surround the mirrors. The fountain in the middle is surrounded by interesting figurines and the tables are even authentic with mexican tiles.

This food is cheap and easily the best mexican food I have ever tasted, short of actually being in Mexico.

You feel as if you have left Florida and immersed yourself in Mexico.
I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
