The Castro, One Week Before Pride...
June 19, 2007
OK, so from the craziness of Hollywood to a different kind of crazy. San Francisco is less smoggy (I said less, so you're not off the hook America - smaller cars would be a good idea...) than LA, and much more pleasant. Having said that, it changes dramatically from one street to another. We were looking for the Asian Art Gallery exhibition and were a bit surprised to find ourselves in the middle of a drug deal.
Anyway, given that I'm not into crack, and didn't have enough spare change for the hundreds of people who asked me for it we stuck to more mild things in SF. We were staying with one of Tash's friends in the Castro, and given that it was a week before the Pride festival, it was a pretty rocking time. Rainbows everywhere, and some interesting outfits. Wish we could have stayed for the festival. Thanks Carla, Sarah and Amy for looking after us.
We had some long days, again being good tourists and riding the cable cars, going to Alcatraz and wandering around the piers. Really nice city overall.
