We woke up this morning, packed up and headed out with Helen to do some of our touristy stuff again. We needed a picture with Robin Hood! We then went down the embankment of the River Trent and saw the ducks, swans and kayakers before Helen dropped us off at the train station and explained how we board our train. Rachel and I successfully boarded the train and departed for London on our first ever train ride. The train was a 2 1/2 hour ride with a stop in Leicester before we arrived in London. There we found our way around the underground and made it to our hostel. We were really spoiled by our last hostel. While this one isn't bad, it's just not as nice and its has a bathroom in the hall rather than in the room.
We strolled through Hyde Park, saw the Albert Memorial (although we don't know who Albert is). We caught a double decker bus but got confused and got off at the next stop to take the tube. We got off at Picadilly Circus and walked around to Leicester Square. We found tickets for Avenue Q, I'm so freaking excited! We're in the balcony but the tickets were £10 each. The show is Friday night! We walked to Trafalgar Square but sadly it was underconstruction and we didn't get to see the monument. We went searching for cheap Chinese food and Chinatown and ended up paying £5 each for a buffet. I can still taste the yummy MSG. We walked back to Picadilly Circus and continued on twords St. James Park and saw the Horse Guard's Parade Grounds but there weren't any horses. After that we headed to Big Ben. I think that's the moment we said, "Holy [geez]! We're in London!" We went back to the hostel and met our new roommates who are from Canada and California before heading to the internet cafe. I think we're going to call it a night. We need a break, at least I know our livers do. -Kate
