Gunung Pancar Short Visit

First time I heard of Gunung Pancar is a couple of years ago, while I visited a friend’s house in Sentul which happen to have Gunung Pancar as its front yard view. She suggested us to go there and visit the waterfall, but the time (and the mood) was just not correct, we leave it just as an idea, until recently. We plan to hold Children Summer Camp this June and list camping places reachable from Jakarta and convenient for children, Gunung Pancar on our list.
A friend invite us to visit her house in Cibinong, and since it’s already half way to Gunung Pancar, we decide to go for surveying Gunung Pancar after our visit to her house.
It took an hour to reach Gunung Pancar from Cibinong. It was cloudy, and rain start pouring when we reach Babakan Madang. The road went up, then finally I could see Pine Forest, a sign that we arrived at Taman Wisata Alam Gunung Pancar (TWA Gunung Pancar). We asked for information office, and an officer guided us to the office, other officer welcoming us, and we informed our purpose, a children summer camp on June. We asked for brochure, he gave us brochure and price list.
We scanned the price list,
- Entrance Fee for day visitor
- Parking fee for Two wheels vehicle IDR 2.000
- Parking fee for Four wheels vehicle IDR 5.000
- Entrance fee IDR 2.000 per person
- Tracking IDR 3.000 per person
- Entrance Fee for night stay visitor
- Adult IDR 12.000
- Children IDR 10.000
Included Parking Fee and Tracking,
And they promise us discount, Adult only pay IDR 10.000
The company have outbound operator work with them,
- Flying Fox IDR 40.
Include cargo net and high rope
When we check on the location, it’s quite high, quite nervous for children—actually, we are who nervous, the children might be not :D—nowadays, children love flying fox when they go outing, so we will consider flying fox as one activity on this summer camp.
Other activities are also provided,
- High rope IDR 80.000 per person
- Paint Ball IDR 100.000 per person
And many use the place for,
- Mountain Biking, IDR 5.000 per bike
- Shoot gun, IDR 1.000.000 land lease per day
Horse riding also possible, the officer told us, they have 2 horses.
Finished checking on their offering, we headed to several camping grounds they offered, first we checked on Camping Ground E, the farthest—500 metres from information office, small one, but have indoor natural spring water here.
Next—thanks God, the rain has stopped, he showed us Camping Ground A—IDR 1.000.000 per event, the biggest with Pendopo (English: Hall), this one, spacious, really great place to hold summer camp, rather than camping ground, it look more like forest garden.
Others camping grounds are Camping Ground B—IDR 400.000 per event, located next to Camping Ground A—and Camping Ground C—IDR 300.000 per event, located before Pine Forest Gate, but we didn’t check on both, we though on the need of Pendopo, in case it is rain, also we could reduce the cost of Platoon Tents—IDR 650.000 per day included mattress. When we surveyed on Camping Ground A, one Platoon Tent—capacity 40—stood there, nice Platoon Tent, I really like it, and it would be great to hold children summer camp on one big tent—dormitory, but children will lose an opportunity to learn how to set up a (dome) tent, then we stick to use dome tent of 4—IDR 40.
Then we asked about trekking route, route to crater or waterfall, he said it’s far, even for adult, better take vehicle. He suggests soft trekking around the camping ground if it is for children, the track is clear, so using guide or not is our decision, but with guide, children will be able to learn on wild plants, he offers IDR 10.
We didn’t have time for visiting waterfall and the 3 craters (red, black, white), maybe next time. We need to drive back to Jakarta and hopefully arrive before dark. On our way down from Gunung Pancar when we pass above the river, we happen to see our friend house (in sentul) from a distance, high up the cliff, lucky her. Then rain start pouring, more than before. So we drove motorbikes on bumpy-muddy road of Babakan Madang, feels like off-road. After 1.5 hours, the rain stop and we reach our friend’s house in Cimanggis. She invite us for dinner in her house, oh, thanks god I’m so hungry, even cannot park my motorbike correct. And safely home :)
