break my heart, i must hold my tongue.

I am currently reading short stories by Albert Wendt. He is coming to
speak to our class today during our first session. The second session
today will be on Pacicif Island Ecology. Thus far the classes on the
History of Hawaii and the History of Samoa have been very informative.
We are touching upon subjects that had never come up previously to this
trip.
In High School the only reason we would talk about HAwaii is because of Pearl Harbor. To Hawaiians that part of history is miniscule compared to the annexation of Hawaii and all of the politics surrounding that. It would be interesting to go further in detail with this subject, however, we are here to study mostly Samoa.
Did you know that most of the eco-toursim income here doesn't even go to the Hawaiians?
Japanese tourists, which make up a large percentage of the tourists here, bring in their own travel companies and thei own tourist attractions/tours. Therefore, a majority of the money made from the Japanese goes right back to Japan. Minus the 4% sales tax.
I'll leave you with that.
