Fiji during the day.
I'm back from Fiji. I'm a lot less homesick now that i've talked to my mom and dad on the phone, my sister on aim and i got forwarded an online photo album of the DPs last year.

However, I've been sick-sick. And boy has this been an experience. I woke up Tuesday morning and was not able to function. I had a fever, a sore throat and a horrible headache. I missed the first lecture of the day but was able to somehow get up to "the shack" for a presentation. After that I went back to bed until the health services doctor arrived. (btw...if you think Health Services on Drew has horrible hours...a doctor is only in the office for one hour a day, four days a week) This was quite the experience.

I went into the Health Services and was greeted by a women sitting at a table with a white tablecloth.

She hands me a piece of paper to fill out and then starts to make small talk about the weather. I finish filling out th piece of paper. She gets up and walks the piece of paper to a room about three feet away. In the room is the doctor, reading a newspaper with the door wide open. The women puts the piece of paper on the table and the man continues to read his newspaper. The woman sits back down at the table where I am waiting. She smiles at me awkwardly as we both keep looking to see if the doctor is finished reading his newspaper. About five minutes later the doctor puts down his newspaper and calls me in.

Conversation upon my entrance:

Doctor: Ok.
Me: Hi
Doctor: Ok.
Me: ::confused:: Do you want to hear my symptoms?
Doctor: ::silence::
Me: Okay.

And then I start explaining whats wrong. He continues to not say a word. He gets a flashlight out of his bag and looks in my mouth. Then he feels my throat. Then he hands me a packet of white tablets. He tells me that they're sudafed and I should take one twice a day.

And that was all.

Random. But quite a cutlural experience.

In other news. We had our final exam today and our last class yesterday. We received our stipend and now we're off on our own for the next month. I began to work on my ISP today by talking to Momoe in her gallery. I also made about half a dozen calls in order to set up appointments for next week. It is very exciting and I'm glad to finally be able to dive into my personal interests.
