Central Java!
July 22, 1985
We flew from Jakarta to Yogyakarta on Garuda Airline. I remember the shock we had when we saw a cockroach scurrying along in the airplane!
We visited some local artisans. Then to Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. Most of the temple stones were black, the style of the buildings were very different to me since I had never seen any Hindu architecture before. It was being restored and there were many ruins around.
We next visited the largest and very famous (although I didn't know about it before going there) Buddhist monument Borobudor. It was a huge platform with hundreds of Budda statues. This was a very impressive looking place and is on the World UNESCO heritage site.
