Urubamba, Rafting and dancing!
May 10, 2006
So now we had 2 days to rest in Cusco, but Andrei and I were as busy as ever.
We went to Urubamba on the first free day to see the school and town that Nicola had lived in for 7 months. On arrival at the school we were greeted with hugs from staff as well as kids. It was a great place and i can see now why Nicola was so happy there. The school was not too big but had great facilities considering its location in the middle of a small town in the Sacred Valley. We were shown around by Beth, Nicolas friend and also went to see the house - Casa Naranja that she lived in as well. We liked Urubamba , it was nice little relaxed place and set among the mountains with lovely views all around.
In the evening after winning a pub quiz, we met the rest of the group in a nightclub in Cusco called Mama Africa´s. Lots of drinking had been done beofre we got there, but we did our best to catch up and had a good night out there, dancing away to all kinds of tunes.
On our 2nd free day we were adventurous and went white water rafting. We headed back towards Urubamba to do this on the river there. The river was only a grade 3 but this suited us fine for the first time and has given us a taste to do a bit more!
