Preparation for the Inca Trail....!
KERRY - We arrived at the tourist haven that is Cusco for a bit of rest before the epic journey that is the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Cucso is a lovley city, with lots of colonial archiecture. The Spanish destroyed a lot of the Inca buildings when they took over the city and used a lot of the Inca stone work to make the foundations of a lot of the buildings that still stand today. We had a free day to explore the city and take in the many restaurant shops and musuems that make up the city. We bumped into our friend Stu from the Galapagos Islands here and arranged to see him and Phil that eve for drinks.
Later on that afternoon we had our briefing of the Inca Trail from our tour guide JC. I was getting a bit anxious about the trail at this point. But there was no going back! We only had a 5kg duffell bag that our porters would carry for us so we had to be ruthless with what we took. 2kg of our bags were taken up with sleeping bags! The nex few days were going to be v interesting.....
