Arrived in the Galapgos Islands!

Galapagos Islands from the air! The excitement builds!
After much trepidation and confusion at Quito airport as to when the flight was leaving, we arrived in the main airport of the Galapagos Islands, on Baltra Island.  A short ferry ride to Santa Cruz with our new ship-mates and a spot of lunch before heading off to a reserve where some giant land tortoises romed and then onto the Charles Darwin Research station where Lonesome George resides.

A quick trip to the supermarket for some alcoholic supplies for the boat and then we had dinner on the MS Encantada before we sailed for Floreana Island (aka Isla Santa Maria).  Many bottles of (bad) rum (= Ron Estelar)were consumed by the lads...!

The boat was pretty roomy considering and our shipmates consisted of Steve from Canada; Phil and Stu from UK; Greta, Mark and John from USA; and Kyoko from Japan.  Bob and Hannah from USA were already on board as they were continuting their 5 day trip to 8 days. The start of a fab trip!

We used Happy Gringo - www.happygringo.com to book our trip to the Galapagos and they were excellent. Really friendly and helpful. Our trip was amazing and we sailed on the Encantada which was a lovely boat with a wonderful crew and amazing food. Would highly recommend both to do a trip to the Galapagos
