Arrived 5.15am, body clock totally up the creek! It doesn't take us long to learn that Fijians live at a different pace to what we'd been used to in the states...they simply call this 'Fiji Time'....on the way to our resort we pick up a girls handbag from a market and get petrol.
The Travellers beach Resort in Nadi, where we are staying turns out to be fine, rooms very basic and bathroom a little grot but it was only $10 USD a night! It has a beach, swimming pool and hammocks.
The good times really begin once we get out onto the islands, we decided to just see 2 and have a good chill out here rather than buy the BULA pass and hop round lots of different ones. Our first choice was an island called 'Robinson Crusoe', which turned out to be a great decision (thanks Amy & Robbie for the tip!) We get a boat from a little dock, in the middle of no-where, and head off down what seems like a river.
The island was just for backpackers so we met lots of great people (and a few that were not so great, who we like to call the Raas and the Bitch Brigade!)At night they did Island games, which were a lot of fun. The first one we did we had to run round a bamboo stick with our forehead resting on the top. I got sooo dizzy, i literally couldn't walk and then collapsed on the floor, Jen said I looked like bambi! After a valiant effort though our team lost and somehow Jen's team one.
In the day we mostly chilled out but there was lots of activities to do as well. There was a snorkelling trip everyday to the reef. This was one of the best things I've done on the trip, saw so many amazing different types of fish and a purple starfish that I got to touch!
We also drank from coconuts, made coconut bracelets, went fishing, kayaking, played volleyball, danced in pirate nightclub and finished the day with a midnight bonfire on the beach!
Gosh there is just so much to say about this place...had an awesome coconut margarita, had cold showers from a bucket....
Great times, great food and good people.
