Spending the summer in eternal sunlight and avoiding bears in the "final frontier" of Alaska.

Awesome kayaking across the bay

Went for a day of paddling and a day of hiking in Kachemak Bay state park across the bay from Homer (cool ride in a water taxi from Smoke Wagon with crazy local Bryan, who sorted me out with kayaks as well). Everything about it was awesome - glaciers, snow capped peaks, loads of wildlide, loads of space, brilliant paddling with a guy who knew everything about the area, marine life and who cooked an amazing sea side soup.

Got a water taxi (Smoke Wagon - cool name, cool outfit) across the Bay from Homer for a great couple of days of hiking up to glaciers, camping out on baeches (watching out for bears) and kayaking in stunning waters in and out of islands. Saw loads of wildlife - air, sea and land, and loved it all!

Homer is a cool place to hang out, but "across the Bay" is more attractive, less windy and more beautiful! Plus, there are fewer people, so the wilderness is all your own.

The crew at Smoke Wagon were awesome too - thnaks for sorting it all out!
