Corcovado is really amazing, you have such a view! To go there you have to go through tropical forest with large trees, beautiful flowers and animals squeeking around (birds mainly, but also monkeys, and why not snake or lizards althought those ones prefer to remain silent). Of course the place is very touristic, so you do not hear that much the charming portuguese flow once you're at the top. But it's really cool to take your time and enjoy every glance to the mountains, the ocean and the city down there, and even the people trying to make funny poses in front of the camera.
After a short tour downtown around some beautiful buildings (I love architecture, and old colonial architecture you get when you're in Rio), heads off to Sugar Loaf. Once again that's an amazing viewpoint, the cable ride is quite fun, and you can take some time in between at Morro de Urca to walk around. At the top, it is a different view you get, rather about the north of the city, the ocean and the beaches (Copacabana, Botafogo...). You can also watch planes landing at the national airport which is just a bit north, or walk in the "wild tropical forest" trying to surprise monkeys.
That was a pretty fun and interesting experience, since once you've been there and bathing at Copacabana and Ipanema, you're done with most of it! (I'm kidding cariocas, relax! ;) )
A laid-back lunch at a churrascaria on top of that is really heaven...
