Ingrid and I and our sand castle

The last couple of weeks in oz have been fantastic.  Lots of great people to meet and amazing things to see.  Australia is truly beautiful.  There are just endless white beaches everywhere it seems.  I spent my last day in Byron Bay heading up to check out Nimbin and the surrounding area.  Nimbin is a crazy little hippie village where everyone seems to be smoking pot...it's a little village that never left the 60s.  Interesting to see.

Next, I headed up to Brisbane with my new friend Oscar (nice Swede from surf camp).  Elisa was heading up as well but couldn't get on the same bus since it was all sold out.  It was a little sad to say goodbye to all the nice Norweigians and Dutch people (and one Canadian) that I met at surf camp.

In Brisbane, Oscar and I headed straight to the Koala wildlife sanctuary where I got to hold a koala and play with some kangaroos.  It was awesome!  I heart kangaroos and koalas!  Although we arrived quite late in the day, a couple of hours was more that enough to see the zoo.

The next day, I caught a plane to Hobart and here I am. :)  Hobart is really amazing.  The scenery here is...wow.  It's more mountainous and hilly than the other parts of oz I've seen so far.  It's definately cooler here but it's pleasant.  It really only gets chilly at night.  Nick, the Aussie that I met in Greece, picked me up from the airport.  He lives just outside of Hobart in a house that overlooks the ocean.  Did I mention that it's beautiful here?  Probably a few times.

My sand castle
I spent most of the day so far cruising around the Hobart area with Nick and seeing some of the farms and coast.  Nick had to stop at his parents house.  They live really close to the beach.  The view is amazing from the window.  White sand beach, small green mountains and hills, sailboats.  Nick's parents have a sailboat and they were just heading off to go sailing for a couple of days.  They invited us along to meet up with them tomorrow but I think we might head up the east coast instead.  Not sure.  It's nice not really having too much of a plan.  Tazmania seems very peaceful and laid-back.

So all is well and oz is great and my travels continue...
