ME and the blue mosque

Met my tour group and my new roomie for the next couple of weeks.  My roomate is named Sarah (same as in Morocco) and is from Quebec, Canada.  She seems very nice.  We are easily the youngest on the trip but everyone seems pretty nice.  Every single other person is from Australia or New Zealand.  I think I might just have an Aussie accent by the time I get to Australia with all the Aussies I've been hanging out with.  Great people to travel with!

Yesterday, I wandered around on my own for a few hours to see the Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque, etc.  My hotel is pretty central to everything.  Today, the group woke up to have breakfast and sort out some details of the trip.  There is an optional hot air balloon ride to go on but it is quite expensive.

Today, we saw the major sights.....the Blue Mosque, the Sofia museum (was first a Christian church then a mosque, now a museum...an odd combintation of christianity and islam), the cistern below the sofia basilica (huge and awesome....looks like a giant roman bath with medusa pillars and low lighting.  A must see!), and some other random sights.  Went out for a light lunch and will now probably head over to the cafe where they serve the most amazing cappuccino with chocolate spoons and write in my journal or some postcards).  Tonight, we catch the train to Ankara (the capital of Turkey).
